Methodology
ARCHIV content is generated through systematic analysis of interior design classification databases and urban sustainability indices, combining quantitative environmental metrics with qualitative design research.
Data Sources
Our encyclopedia draws from three primary research databases:
- Interior Design Material & Style Database — 1,000+ classified design specifications including style tags, material types, color palettes, and design descriptions across 4 core style families and 8 material categories.
- Interior Design Style Classification Dataset — 3,729 professionally photographed interiors classified across 19 design style categories, sourced from architectural photography archives.
- Urban Sustainability Planning Index — 3,476 records of environmental performance metrics across 4 land use types (Commercial, Green Space, Industrial, Residential), including sustainability scores, green coverage, air quality, and renewable energy adoption rates.
Content Generation Process
- Style Definition — Each of our 21 design styles is defined through analysis of classified design images and specifications, establishing key characteristics, typical materials, and color language.
- Space Type Mapping — 15 public space types are mapped to urban land use categories, each with aggregated sustainability metrics from the planning database.
- Combination Analysis — For each of the 315 style × space combinations, we generate design narratives that account for both the aesthetic principles of the style and the functional requirements and environmental performance of the space type.
- Qualitative Assessment — Quantitative metrics are translated into qualitative labels using threshold-based classification (quartile analysis), ensuring that different data produces genuinely different textual descriptions.
Metric Definitions
| Metric | Definition | Scale |
|---|---|---|
| Sustainability Score | Composite index of environmental, social, and economic performance for the space category | 0–10 |
| Green Cover | Percentage of space dedicated to vegetation and biophilic elements | 0–100% |
| Air Quality Index | Indoor/outdoor air quality composite based on particulate matter and ventilation rates | 0–10 |
| Transport Access | Proximity and connectivity to public transportation networks | 0–10 |
| Renewable Energy | Proportion of energy sourced from renewable sources | 0–10 |
Update Frequency
Data is reviewed and updated quarterly. All pages display a “Last updated” timestamp reflecting the most recent data refresh. Our automated pipeline checks source databases weekly for updates.
